So Far, No Good...Why Isn't President
Barack Obama Doing Anything For The Gay Community?
By Meghan Chavalier
May 19, 2009
The hot button issue right now is gay marriage.
What does our President have to say about it? Nothing. What
about DOMA (Defense Of Marriage Act)? Nothing.
Instead we get House Press Secretary Roberts
Gibbs who gave us this response full of nothing when asked
about the DOMA.
It seems that nobody in our government has
the answer to anything gay these days. With all of the attention
on gay marriage right now you would think someone would have
something to say, especially the man at the top who spoke
of change, not just change for certain people in the United
States of America but change for everyone.
Right now it seems the only thing we're getting
is the shaft. I'm very disappointed with what's happening.
I put my faith and vote into a man who I believed would bring
change to our community, and so far, no good.
Why isn't Barack Obama speaking out? Is it
possible that the people that surround him are telling him
it's better not to say anything at all, and try not to get
in the middle of what's happening?
He spoke openly about abortion just the other
day with no problem, but what about gay issues? When does
he plan on offering us a moment of his time to let us know
that everything will work out for the best?
The problem is that we have no reassurance
that everything is going to work out for the best. We are
being pushed to back of the crowd once again.
President Barack Obama it is time to start
making the changes you spoke of. It is time that you speak
out in support of our community. It is time to let our community
know that you stand behind us as we stood behind you during
the election. You must push for equal rights for everyone
in the United States of America.
I don't want a celebrity President. I don't
want to see you on Jay Leno, or on the cover of Rolling Stone.
I want to see you behind your desk doing the job we elected
you into, President Of The United States Of America. You spoke
of change, so I think it's high time you started to let us
see that these changes are going to happen.
What's holding you back? We didn't hold back
our votes for you during the elections, so now it's time to
make good on your campaign promises.
You are being held accountable by everyone
who voted for you in the election and made you our President.
That's alot of people who trust your word and your integrity.
